shaking handsScenario-based learning is generally most appropriate when teaching learners with some relevant prior knowledge or experience how to perform tasks that rely on critical and creative problem solving. They are especial­ly useful to teach skills that are difficult to acquire on the job because of safety concerns or scarcity of real-world opportunities. Decisions can have life or death consequences, and a scenario-based approach to learning offers at least a partial substitute for real-world experience.

Program objectives drive the design and development of the program and define how to measure success. Program objectives define what the program is intended to do and how to measure participant achievement and system support of the learning transfer process. All too often, however, minimal emphasis is placed on developing objectives and their defined measures.

A 2012 Gallup study of workplaces in 140 countries found 87 percent of workers are emotionally disconnected from their workplaces, ultimately leading them to be less productive. Yet last year Deloitte studied 2,500 organizations in 90 countries and found that only 17 percent of managers believe they have an engaging and compelling employment brand.
